Highbar CrossFit Ashburn Coach Dan ScanlanI began my journey in sports and the necessary training to be successful at them at 6 years of age with the sports of wrestling and baseball. I gave up baseball to focus on wrestling while shortly after picking up football. The supplementation of “performance training” in order to perfect my performance on the stage of competition began on day one.  Since that day, I have been trained to perform using gymnastics (bodyweight movements), weightlifting, speed and agility training, endurance conditioning, and mental superiority. While I enjoyed all of the sports that I competed in, the individual spirit of competition that the sport of wrestling provided me was the most satisfying. This drove me to occupy most of my training time towards wrestling.

Throughout my wrestling career I have captured 2 Virginia state titles and subsequently made 2 finals appearances in the NCAA Division II national tournament walking away with one NCAA Division II wrestling championship. I graduated from Limestone College with a BS in Sports Management.

Dan Scanlan and Sara McMannMy passion to help others achieve their fitness and performance goals began in 2007 during my sophomore year of college after being introduced to Crossfit. Since then I have gained my Crossfit level 1 certification and have been a part of a top tier college strength and conditioning program while fully immersing myself in the education of Olympic weightlifting and sport specific speed and explosion training.  I have gained over 5 years of experience training athletes from ages 12 to 30 in sport specific training including football, swimming, basketball, wrestling, track and field, soccer, and mixed martial arts. I have also trained and guided my mother through a 50 lbs. transformation process helping her to achieve her health and fitness goals.

Since graduating college and retiring from college wrestling I enjoy expanding my knowledge of sports performance, playing tennis, practicing yoga (keyword being practice!), and watching just about every sport. I love helping people achieve their goals and prove to themselves that they can do something that was previously inconceivable.
